Restaurant Update: Mexico Beach - November 2024

Since Hurricane Michael, one of the biggest struggles this town has faced has been getting businesses back open and rebuilt. With the rising costs of construction and real estate, it has not been an easy task to get back to the state that Mexico Beach was in pre-Michael. The town has made tons of progress over the past year and I am happy to present the following businesses that have opened up shop this year!

Forgotten Coast Brewing Company

We finally have another sit-down restaurant in Mexico Beach! This place is so much more than just a brewing company. It is the perfect place to enjoy a beer, watch football, hang out with friends and family, or just relax in general. They brew their beer on-site and serve all across the Forgotten Coast. Their menu ranges from seafood dip and chips to buffalo wings and they serve eight locally crafted beers with a couple more on the way.

Point Break Pizza

This is Mexico Beach’s newest food truck, although it provides an amazing outdoor seating area with a canopy and beachy feel. They not only provide custom pizzas but also have creative orders such as the BBQ Pulled Pork Pie, which features a BBQ sauce base and pulled pork, or the Shred the Gnar, which really brings in the spice element by using jalapenos and hot sauce. They also deliver within the Mexico Beac/ St Joe Beach Area, so you will never even have to leave the house!

TK Hibachi

Located right next to where Gulf Foods used to be, this food truck serves all sorts of Hibachi and noodles, including steak, chicken, and vegetables. They are open Tuesday-Sunday and are open for both lunch and dinner. They are located next to two other food trucks that provide Mexican Food and dessert, perfect if someone in your group does not want hibachi or wants to get some sweets after dinner!

Toucans on the Beach

Toucans on the Beach has finally started the process of rebuilding! After years of planning and permitting, the famous beach restaurant is going to be back in business soon enough and in the exact same location. According to owners, the facility will be bigger and better and features several options for locals and visitors to enjoy.“It is going to be a multifaceted entertainment complex with live music,” Lee said. “We’ll have a raw oyster bar upstairs, lots of TVs for sporting events, kind of like we had before we’ll also do downstairs large deck outside bar with band stage.” - Patrick Lee. Expect to see this restaurant back open in 2025!

Scoopalicious

This ice cream truck offers a variety of desserts and is located right next to TK Hibachi. They provide hand-scooped ice creams, sundaes, milkshakes, and more! They have a great outdoor setting that has a great ocean view and games for the kids.

Crazy Beach Pizza Mystery?

Although we are all sad that Crazy Beach Pizza is no longer in its former location, on the corner of Hwy 98 and N 29th St, we are looking forward to who leases the space after it is finished with the renovation. The property has been added on to and will be the perfect location for Mexico Beach’s newest restaurant. Crest Enterprises is currently doing the remodel.
